Member agreement

Welcome to membership in New Heritage Farms! We are excited to have you join us. You are a valuable, integral part of our community. New Heritage is built on a foundation of commitment—to the land and to each other. That commitment is reflected in everything we do, including signing up new members.

This agreement represents our commitment to you. We will work hard to bring you the best and most delicious produce possible. We want you and your family to enjoy good eating by having a connection to the source of your food. In return, we need you to commit to us.

Please take a few minutes to carefully read through this agreement as it will help us lay the groundwork for a successful year together.

01

Risk & Reward

Shared risk and reward is the heart of the traditional CSA model. By joining our CSA, you are becoming a part of our agricultural community. Together, we agree to share in the risk and reward of farming. If the year is especially abundant, you will receive product of exceptional quality and quantity. If the year proves to be difficult with pest or disease, or maybe weather pressures, you may receive fewer items or products of lesser quality. If we experience an extreme natural disaster, you may receive no further products at all. We cannot foresee these things happening, although we commit to do our very best to provide the highest quality of production we can, under the conditions we are given.

02

Garden activities

Community is the heart of New Heritage! We would love to see you out at the garden! As a share member, you become both part of our business as well as our extended family. As such, we ask of you the same respect we ask of one another. When visiting, please treat our property as you would your own home. Because of the delicate nature of our work and other natural unpredictable risks of farm/garden life, we ask that you please stay by the side of your children as they may want to explore. We also welcome on leash, well behaved dogs. We commit to do our best to carefully maintain and properly account for any potential hazards, we ask that you commit to do the same.

03

Payments

Here at New Heritage, we offer two payment plans. If you choose the partial payment plan, you will receive a reminder that payment is due two weeks before July 1. For any debit or credit charges, a fee of 3% will be applied to the price. If circumstances arise that prevent you from paying your balance, please contact us to discuss a plan. We will communicate with you if we can’t distribute your share because of nonpayment. If your payment is late and we do not hear from you, we will no longer pack a share for you until communication is reestablished and a plan has be devised. If you decide CSA isn’t for you, we ask that you look for a replacement member to take over your share. The farm depends on each member’s commitment to cover expenses and provide enough food for everyone. For that reason also, there is no option for refund. Please call us to discuss any potential problems with your share, they will be evaluated on an individual basis.

04

Receiving your share

As we’ve said before, community is the heart of a CSA, and picking up your share is a chance to meet your neighbors and fellow members! Although, if you just want to run in to pick it up and run home, there’s no problem with that either! To make sure pick-up runs smoothly and timely, we have a few rules. We offer on-site pickup on Thursday’s from 4-7pm or Saturday's from 10am-2pm. If at any point you will not be able to make it during your chosen time, please give notice to New Heritage so that we can arrange storage for your share. If you need to send a friend or a family member to pick up your share, that is no problem, please just let us know so that we know who to look for instead! If this time is something that becomes a constant problem for you, please just call to discuss other pick up options and we would be willing to work something out.

05

Communication

Like any strong community and relationship, we need good communication. We will communicate with you any cancellations, delays, or problems.

If you contact us, we will respond during normal business hours.

Please add the following information into your contacts so that you are able to communicate with us, should any issues arrive.
